The Lonely DevOps

You are the only DevOps engineer, and the whole stack rests on you. Push blocks back in before prod slides off the top, send the devs away, and see how long you last.

  1. Click blocks to push them back in.
  2. Answer the devs, or they pile up.
  3. Buy bots to do it for you.

Keep the stack standing.

When the stack is real

Five minutes of the job. We do the rest of it.

The Lonely DevOps is a parody of a real week: the one engineer, the shoulder taps, the fire that climbs from the database to prod. MeteorOps exists so nobody has to hold the stack alone. Here is where to look next.

The Lonely DevOps, answered

01

Is The Lonely DevOps free?

Yes. No account, no email gate, and nothing in the game costs real money. Bots and Terraform are bought with the revenue your stack earns while prod is up.
02

Does it work on phones?

Yes, in any modern mobile browser. Blocks and devs are sized for tapping, and the tower fits a portrait screen. A desktop with a mouse is faster, so expect higher scores there.
03

What is the daily challenge?

Every day the stack starts from the same seed for everyone: the same block order, the same fires, the same devs walking up at the same moments. That puts every run on one leaderboard for the day. Free play uses a random seed and has its own all-time board.
04

Can I play with my team?

Not yet. Today every run is one engineer against the stack, which is rather the point. Compare valuations on the high-score table for now; rooms where several of you hold up one stack are next.
05

Why did MeteorOps build a game?

Because every DevOps engineer we know has lived every event in it: the shoulder tap mid-deploy, the fire that climbs from the database to prod, the quick sync that cannot be declined. We wanted something honest about the job that is also fun for five minutes. The free call in the game is the same free 30-minute call we offer for real, with the same solution architects.

The real free call

Tired of being the only DevOps engineer? MeteorOps does this for a living.
